Celebrities are known for inspiring all kinds of beauty trends, workout fads, dietary changes, etc, etc. The thing with coconut oil though is that I’m not sure this one is a trend that will come and go. In fact, it’s been something lots of women have been doing for years to help keep both their skin and hair vibrant. Maybe these 15 celebrities are helping to bring it to the light, which is good, especially for those of you who maybe hadn’t known about it…check it out:
Sometimes we forget about the twenty-somethings when talking about health and fitness. Most of the time, you’re at your lowest weight in your teenage years and then once you get into your 30’s, it’s all about how to look and feel like you’re in your 20’s…but what about when you’re actually IN that age range? Let me help you out with a few tips from some celebrities.
Celebrities and college majors. You may not think those two words go together, but here are 15 celebrities that are going to prove you wrong. Talent, beauty and brains do not have to be strangers to one another. First Up: Ashton Kutcher. This “70’s Show” hottie went to college and majored in Biochemical Engineering. But he ended up dropping out to pursue modeling. Looks like he made a good choice after all.
Superfoods. Let’s start by defining them. Superfoods are supposed to be healthier for you and they even (allegedly) help reduce the risk of cancer. They are a “nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being.” So for example, blueberries, kale and salmon have been labeled superfoods. While they are typically high in antioxidants and vitamins, some scientists say they may be too high and Catherine Collins, a chief dietitian at London’s St. George’s Hospital says, “The term ‘superfoods’ is at best meaningless and at worst harmful. There are so many wrong ideas about superfoods that I don’t know where best to begin to dismantle the whole concept.” And lastly, there are no regulations for what is deemed an actual superfood. So pay attention when buying into the term, and beware of these in particular:
Keeping your body in shape all year around is no easy task. Just ask any celebrity you know. Lol. Obviously, their access to trainers, nutritionists, chefs, etc. etc., make things a little easier, but if you want some suggestions on how you can stay fit without having all of that extra celebrity help, keep clicking. First up: Singer Ciara. She’s always had a good body and she recently popped out a baby boy. But don’t think that’s stopped her; she recently covered Shape Magazine and says she does a lot of boxing to stay in shape. So get you some boxing gloves and start throwing some punches.
The DO’s and DON’T’s of health. There are so many tricks of the trade when it comes to getting and staying healthy. When you find something that works for you, it’s easy to decide you should stick to it. And in many cases, that could be a good thing. In other instances, too much of one thing can be horrible for you. For example, if you work out too much, but aren’t eating enough, not getting enough sleep, excessive partying, etc., etc. So to help you make healthy choices, let’s go over some of the rules. First up, Gwyneth Paltrow: DO an occasional detox like “The Clean Program.” This one is 21 days and allows for one solid meal per day.
Everyone wants a picture perfect, Hollywood smile. We go through great lengths to get it. Whitening, braces, veneers, etc, etc. Sometimes it turns out right…oh and sometimes it turns out wrong. Here are some suggestions as to how you can get that Hollywood smile; some of them simple and cheap, some more complex and costly. But the goal is to stay away from the “Don’t’s,” which I’ll share with you as well. First up: DO wear red lipstick. BUT. Make sure it has blue undertones. It’ll instantly brighten up your smile for the day.
Throughout the week, it’s easy to get bogged down by everyday life and the challenges that come along with it. Career, kids, responsibility, social life, relationships, etc, etc. When you find yourself at your desk, or if you work from home or wherever, you can easily be distracted and feel like your 8 hour day is never going to end. Take a look at these 15 midday pick-me-ups that can help you get through those long hours. First up, like Kate Hudson, if you have the luxury, schedule a midday jog/run. Or if you know you’re limited to a 30-60 minute lunch break, get up an hour earlier and start your day off with a little more energy.
There’s always a new craze or trend sweeping the nation. Diets and “being healthy” will always be popular. The past few years, the trend has been juicing and smoothies. I can imagine that if done in moderation and the “proper” way, it can be good for you. But following a trend and not knowing why you’re doing it is the worst thing, if your goal is to really be healthy. A lot of times, it’s just as packed with sugar and other bad ingredients as everything else. And sometimes they’re just down right nasty. Check out some of the drinks you should STAY AWAY from…or at least do differently.
I’m going to start by saying, Kim Kardashian is one of my favorite celebrities. I think she’s beautiful and stylish and I’m more than happy for her in her relationship and marriage to rapper Kanye West. The pair have such a beautiful daughter, 2 year old North West. Kim announced in a preview of an upcoming season of KUWTK that she was expecting baby #2 and more recently that it’s a boy. The last go round Kim had a condition called preeclampsia which is a high blood pressure disorder which causes swelling and all kinds of discomfort. It’s being reported that she’s taking major caution to avoid it this time around, but either way we hope for a happy and healthy pregnancy for the mom-to-be. We also hope for the fashion maven to stick to her style, and stay way from these pregnancy fashion faux pauxs.
